HPE Smart Array Gen10 controllers connected to a HPE D8000 Disk Enclosures using firmware version 0118 may report an error message, "Storage Enclosure Firmware Upgrade Problem Detected" during server POST or in the server IML logs.
Check the D8000 Disk Enclosures front panel LED. If the D8000 disk enclosure is not reporting any fault LED status after applying v0118, then the Smart Array error message, "Storage Enclosure Firmware Upgrade Problem Detected", is only a reporting issue. There is no hardware fault with the enclosure.
If the D8000 disk enclosure is reporting a fault LED (amber) status after applying v0118, there may be a firmware mismatch on one or more subcomponents.
If the configuration is a mixed mode (HBA) configuration with two nodes, the v0118 firmware update process must be executed from each node.
Generate an ADU report for each node.
Review - Enclosure SEP (HPE D8000), is reporting firmware version, 0118
Review – Enclosure Expander, check each instance is reporting firmware version, 0118
If any component is reporting an older revision, execute the D8000 v0118 from that node.
Scope
HPE D8000 Disk Enclosures are affected by this issue.
Resolution
This issue is resolved in HPE D8000 Disk Enclosures version 0130.
