HPE SimpliVity Gen10 systems running OmniStack software version 4.1.0 (or earlier) with VMware vCenter Server 7.0 Update 1 (or later) may experience unpredictable behavior. VMware vCenter Server 7.0 Update 1 introduces the vSphere Cluster Services (vCLS) feature, which will be supported by the OmniStack software in an upcoming release. Until the OmniStack software supports VMware vCenter Server 7.0 Update 1 (or later), as indicated in the HPE SimpliVity OmniStack Interoperability Guide , systems that are upgraded to VMware vCenter Server 7.0 Update 1 (or later) may allow users to perform SimpliVity-specific actions on vCLS VMs through the vCenter Web User Interface. This could lead to unpredictable behaviors. Information about the VMware vSphere Cluster Services (vCLS) can be found in this VMware KB article .

When possible, delay upgrading HPE SimpliVity Gen10 systems to VMware vSphere Hypervisor 7.0 (ESXi) (or later) until the HPE SimpliVity OmniStack Interoperability Guide indicates support for VMware vCenter Server 7.0 U2b (or later). IMPORTANT : While the vCLS feature is introduced with VMware vCenter Server 7.0 Update 1, VMware vSphere Hypervisor 7.0 (ESXi) requires a critical patch only available in VMware vCenter Server 7.0 Update 2b and later. See VMware security advisory VMSA-2021-0010 . WORKAROUND: For HPE SimpliVity Gen10 systems running with a fresh deployment of VMware vSphere 7.0 Update 1 (or later) or a VMware vCenter Server upgraded to version 7.0 Update 1(or later), take the following steps: Do not perform the following SimpliVity actions from the vCenter Web UI on vCLS VMs: Backup Virtual Machine Clone Virtual Machine Move Virtual Machine Set Backup Policy Save Credential for VSS Search Backups HPE further recommends not performing the following actions from the vCenter Web UI on vCLS VMs: Rename Virtual Machine Snapshot of Virtual Machine Enable FIPs on VMware vCenter Server 7.0 U2b Convert the vCLS VM to a template Change resource allocation to the vCLS VM Disable the SimpliVity Intelligent Workload Optimization (IWO) feature. Additional information about the IWO can be found in the HPE OmniStack for vSphere Administration Guide in the Clusters Intelligent Workload Optimizer section. Instructions for disabling IWO can found in the HPE OmniStack Command Reference Guide in the Intelligent Workload Optimizer(IWO) commands chapter.
