The HBAs in the HPE Primera Storage System must be fully seated to function properly. If the HBA is not fully seated, then Code 10 or Code 15 errors may be seen. From the serial port while the node is booting: *** Fatal error:Code 15, sub-code 0x0 (3). *** Fatal error:Code 10, sub-code 0x37 (a). From Alerts in the user interface: HBAs not fully seated may also report incorrectly as a 2-port card instead of a 4-port card and report errors such as: From checkhealth : Node node:1 Environmental factor HBA4 Temp is DEVICE FAILURE Node node:1 PCI card model in Slot:4 is not the same as Node:0 From showinventory or showport -i: From the user interface, click System > Controllers > View Details for the affected HBA adapter slot. It should report as an LPE32004-32G.
HPE Primera 600 Storage systems are affected by this issue.
If these symptoms are seen, initiate a removal and replacement operation from the UI to re-seat the HBA that is reporting incorrectly. IMPORTANT : The HBA is not a hot-pluggable component, the controller node must be shut down prior to removal and replacement of the HBA. The following procedure will place the node in the proper condition to seat the HBA. From the UI select System. Select System Detail. From the right-hand Actions panel, select Service. Choose Repair for Type of service. Choose Adapter card for the component. Select the Controller Node number with the affected HBA. Select the adapter card with the issue. Check the box for "I have read and understand the implications." When the UI says "Paused," has a "restart node" button, and the HBA's blue UID LED is solid blue, then it is safe to re-seat the HBA. Unscrew the thumbscrew. Gently pull the HBA out slightly. Ensure the HBA is correctly sliding in the guide rails. If not, then fully remove it and realign it. Gently re-insert the HBA in the slot. Press opposite corners of the HBA face plate to make sure that the HBA is fully seated. It should be slightly recessed, and you may hear a click. Re-tighten the thumbscrew. On the UI, click on the "Restart node" button to bring the node back up. Verify that the HBA is correctly being identified.
