HPE Gen10 systems that support Intel Xeon Scalable Performance Processors may report an Innovation Engine (IE) error code 04 message in the Integrated Management Log (IML) during the Innovation Engine flash process when flashing from Innovation Engine Versions 0.1.6.1 (or earlier) and Innovation Engine Version 0.2.0.11 (or later) flash image.
Under rare circumstances, the IE communication error message may occur near the end of the flash process, regardless of IE version.
The generation of this message during the flash process is not consequential and can be safely ignored and cleared. Innovation Engine 0.2.0.11 (and later) versions have this issue resolved when flashing from version 0.2.0.11.
Systems with newer versions of IE (the 2.0.11 and 2.1.2) may still encounter this error message but less often.
Scope
Any HPE Gen10 systems that support Intel Xeon Scalable Performance Processors.
Resolution
Ignore and clear the message after the flash process has been successfully completed.
