An issue has been identified where the HPE StoreEasy 1460, 1560, 1660, and 1860 Storage Systems may not detect its internal storage. The following error may display as the HPE Smart Storage Administrator (SSA) CLI's (SSACLI.exe) inability to recognize physical drives when an administrator attempts to create logical drives: This controller has been configured with a more recent version of software. To prevent data loss, configuration changes to this controller are not allowed. Please upgrade to the latest version to be able to continue to configure this controller. NOTE : HPE StoreEasy Management Console versions 1.0, 1.0.1, or 1.1.0 and the HPE StoreEasy Management Provider utility may be unable to detect system storage and does not report the error in the user interface. It is recommended to update HPE Smart Storage Administrator (SSA) and the HPE Smart Storage Administrator CLI to a minimum of version 3.30.x or the latest available version, based on the current SPP release. Any array created with the HPE Smart Storage Administrator or the HPE SSA CLI configuration utility from the 2018.06 version of SPP will not be accessible with an earlier version of HPE Smart Storage Administrator.
This issue affects the following HPE StoreEasy Storage systems: HPE StoreEasy 1460 Storage HPE StoreEasy 1560 Storage HPE StoreEasy 1660 Storage HPE StoreEasy 1860 Storage
If your system has not been deployed or currently does not contain any data, follow the instructions below to clear the array configuration for the operating system partition and create the new partition after following the Quick Restore (QR) process. After completing the restoration of the system, it is recommended that the HPE StoreEasy Management Console version 1.1.0 package be installed. This installation resolves the HPE StoreEasy Storage Management Provider (SMP) dependency on the earlier version of the HPE SSA CLI, allowing a user to upgrade to the newer versions of the HPE SSA and SSA CLI utilities. Use the System Utilities (< F9 > during boot) to clear the array configuration on the P408i (HPE StoreEasy 1460 and 1560 models) or the S100i (HPE StoreEasy 1660 and 1860 models) SR controller. Once in the System Utilities screen, go to System Configuration > HPE Smart Array (P408i/S100i) SR Gen10 > Array configuration > Manage arrays > Array A > Delete array , then select Save and reboot your system. Do not create a new array from here. After the reboot, begin the Quick Restore. It should create the new array and partition and install the image. Once it has rebooted to the Out of the Box (OOBE) initial setup, run through the setup as you normally would. After logging in the first time, install SPP2018.11 (or the latest available Service Pack for HPE ProLiant) using the online method or by utilizing the automatic install from the OS. This will install the latest approved and tested firmware, drivers, and software supplied by HPE ProLiant teams for your system. Review the release notes on the SPP before applying the latest version to make sure that there are not any caveats when updating. NOTE : You have the option to perform a boot to the SPP and apply just the firmware updates to the system, but you would still need to install the latest drivers and applications as needed for the newer firmware. Be sure that the SSACLI and SSA have been updated to version 3.30.13.0 or later. Install HPE StoreEasy Management Console version 1.1.0, which also includes the latest HPE StoreEasy Storage Management Provider (SMP) 3.1.7. This version of the HPE StoreEasy SMP has removed the dependency on a specific version of SSACLI being installed. Reboot the system. You should be able to launch the HPE StoreEasy Management Console or the HPE Smart Storage Administrator to see the attached storage. If you currently have data on your HPE StoreEasy Storage system, follow the instructions below: Install the latest version of HPE Smart Storage Administrator (SSA) and SSACLI (minimum version: 3.30.13.0) by using SPP2018.11 (or the latest available Service Pack for HPE ProLiant). Install the HPE StoreEasy Management Console version 1.1.0. This is necessary to resolve error behavior, even if you do not plan on using the Management Console for administrative purposes. Version 1.1.0 will install the latest version of the HPE StoreEasy Management Provider, which removes the dependency on having a specific version of SSACLI installed. Reboot the system.
