When attempting to update the HPE Smart Array P408i-sb controller firmware on HPE systems running Linux, the HPE Smart Array P408i-sb Controller in the HPE D2500sb storage blade may not be updated. In previous versions of the HPE ProLiant Gen10 Smart Array Controller driver (smartpqi), the device ID for the HPE Smart Array P408i-sb controller is not included. Therefore, the controller is not detected by the system, and the firmware Smart Component update does not complete.
Scope
Any HPE BL460c Gen10 server blade paired with an HPE D2500sb Storage Blade running Linux if smartpqi Driver Version 1.1.4-125 (or Later) is not installed.
Resolution
Install the smartpqi driver version 1.1.4-125 (or later).

Enter a product name (e.g., "P408i-sb") in the text search field and wait for a list of products to populate. From the products displayed, identify the desired product and click on the Drivers & software icon to the right of the product.
From the Drivers & software dropdown menus on the left side of the page:
Select the Software Type - (e.g. Driver)
For further filtering if needed - Select the specific Operating System from the Operating Environment.
Select the latest release of the
HPE ProLiant Gen10 Smart Array
Controller driver for Linux
version 1.1.4-125 (or later).
