A RAID50 disk group on disk failure will not automatically start a reconstruct job to a spare drive if a job is currently running on the disk group on HPE MSA 2042, 2040, and 1040 SAN Storage arrays running GL220P008 or earlier firmware. A job such as INIT, VERIFY, or SCRUB will prevent any spares from automatically being used on drive failure. Only RAID50 disk groups are affected.

This issue is resolved in GL220P010 firmware or later. If you have an HPE MSA 2042, 2040, or 1040 array running firmware GL220P008 or earlier, you should plan a maintenance window to upgrade your array to GL220P010 or later firmware. HPE recommends you follow HPE Best practices and perform all firmware upgrades on a healthy array and, if possible, during a period of low host I/O.
