Customers running HPE StoreEver Command View for Tape Libraries (CVTL) software may encounter an issue when attempting to perform a tape drive or library Firmware Update using CVTL. On 3 May 2018, the certificate on the HPE firmware download server was updated. As a result of this update, CVTL versions 5.2.00 through 5.4.00 are unable to connect to the firmware download server until the corresponding certificate within the CVTL installation has been updated. As a result of this server certificate update, you may see the following status message when attempting to perform a tape drive or library Firmware Update: Firmware Update Unsuccessful: peer not authenticated If your firmware is already available locally, you will still be able to update your tape drive and library firmware. Only your ability to download firmware files from the HPE server will be affected. This update is optional if this functionality is not required.

Download the updated certificate file icm_server_20180503.jks at http://www.hpe.com/support/cvtl . Replace the existing certificate file by following this process: Log out of the CVTL GUI page. Open the Windows Services console. Find the Command View TL service. Stop the CVTL service. Find the local certificate file, icm_server.jks. By default the file is installed at C:\Program Files (x86)\HPE\Command View TL\config\icm_server.jks. The file location will differ if CVTL is installed to a non-default path. Delete the old file and copy the new file icm_server_20180503.jks into the same location. Rename this file to be the same as the original one: icm_server.jks. Restart the CVTL service. Log back into the CVTL GUI page. NOTE: A reboot is not required unless you are still encountering issues.
