Description

Symptoms

BIG-IQ sometimes fails to license a BIG-IP and logs the following error: Unable to assign license; Cannot grant license to null device <host> (<ip>) because it's not a BIG-IP.

Impact

BIG-IP device does not get activated.

Conditions

-- Using BIG-IQ License Manager to activate a BIG-IP device. -- Activation is unsuccessful. This occurs intermittently after rebooting a BIG-IP device.

Workaround

Restart restjavad daemon on the BIG-IP system: bigstart restart restjavad Once restjavad has been restarted, you can attempt to re-activate the BIG-IP device from the BIG-IQ.
