Platforms since Artemis DD4200, DD4500, DD7200; Apollo (DD9500) Apollo+ (DD9800) & EOS T2, T3, T4 (DD9300, DD9600), support many configurations with varying sizes, counts, and placement options for Memory, I/O SLICs, HDD, or CPUs depending on licensing and what features are being used. Examples of such variable features and configurations are: Expanded memoryExpanded storage capacityCache disksExtended RetentionHA Active-PassiveLTR (Cloud Tier) Unsupported configurations can easily be encountered when I/O SLICs are borrowed from another Data Domain or EMC appliance. Due to the increasing complexity of configurations, this article provides general troubleshooting procedures to identify and resolve unsupported hardware configurations on Data Domain platforms. Always consult the platform hardware guides for best practices and mandatory configuration guidelines.
This example is for DD9500 with unsupported I/O SLICs installed: Eth5a is an unsupported four-port 1G copper SLIC taken from a dd4200/4500/7200 platformSlot 8 has an unsupported 8G FC SLIC taken from a dd4200/4500/7200 platform (DD9500 platform only supports 16G FC SLIC)Alert ID p0-9 was generated because Slot 9 for DD9500HA systems must remain empty and it has a SLIC installed. New I/O cards can be installed at any time, and will become functional after a system reboot. Not all unsupported I/O card configurations illuminate the amber fault LED on the SLIC (degraded PCI speed does show an amber fault LED)EVT-ENVIRONMENT-00048: is generated when the severity of misconfiguration is Critical and the file system is disabled.EVT-ENVIRONMENT-00049: is a warning alert about a misconfiguration and the file system is not disabled # net show hardware Port Speed Duplex Supp Speeds Hardware Address Physical Link Status State ----- -------- ------- -------------- ----------------- -------- ----------- ------- eth5a 1000Mb/s full 10/100/1000 00:60:48:1f:f4:f6 Copper yes running <<<<< Unsupported HW may still be functional ----- -------- ------- -------------- ----------------- -------- ----------- ------- #system show ports or #enclosure show io-cards Port Connection Link Firmware Hardware Type Speed Address ---- ---------- --------- ------------ ---------------------------- 5a Enet 1.0 Gbps 00:60:48:1f:f4:f6 (eth5a) <<<<< Unsupported HW may still be functional 5b Enet 00:60:48:1f:f4:f7 (eth5b) 5c Enet 00:60:48:1f:f4:f2 (eth5c) 5d Enet 00:60:48:1f:f4:f3 (eth5d) 8a FC-Tgt 8.01.00 50:02:18:80:4d:60:02:2f WWNN <<<<< Unsupported HW may still be functional 50:02:18:89:4d:60:02:2f WWPN 8b FC-Tgt 8.01.00 50:02:18:80:4d:60:02:2f WWNN 50:02:18:89:4d:61:02:2f WWPN ---- ---------- --------- ------------ ----------------------------
