A possible NDMP tape positioning error occurred during the backup. The backup was successful, but the tape fails to position to the correct file number at recovery time.
Create the zero-byte NDMP variable file ndmp_auto_pos in /nsr/debug on the NetWorker Server and try the recovery again (no must reboot or restart NetWorker). /nsr/debug/ndmp_auto_pos This variable can help workaround the possible tape positioning error and allow the recovery to start and succeed. To create the zero-byte file on UNIX/Linux, use the command: # cd /nsr/debug # touch ndmp_auto_pos To create the zero-byte file on Windows, use the command: C:\..\nsr\debug> copy nul ndmp_auto_pos Note: Because ndmp_auto_pos works only on tapes that have file number errors ensure to delete the file once the recovery attempt is done. Leaving the variable in /nsr/debug can interfere with subsequent NDMP restores that have no errors.
