Unable to SSH or PuTTY to ESXi with error: Disconnected: No supported authentication methods are available

Cause

This issue occurs when the Password-Based Authentication type is disabled.

Resolution

Log in to iDRAC BMC of that particular ESXI. Enable shell and login using root.Run the command: Cat /etc/ssh/ssh_config Run the following command and then change PasswordAuthentication to yes: vi /etc/ssh/ssh_config Save the vi editor file by using the keyboard (esc, :wq!)Restart the SSH service with the command: /etc/init.d/SSH restart Test the SSH login.
