Windows Update is unable to update the laptops BIOS from version 2.0.0 to any newer revision. Note: This problem is specific to version 2.0.0 and does not occur with other BIOS revisions. Affected Platform: Alienware 16X Aurora AC16251 Affected Operating System: Windows 11 Affected Version: BIOS version 2.0.0
Those laptops that ship with version 2.0.0 use a different EFI System Resource Table (ESRT) Globally Unique Identifier (GUID). Windows Update does not work because it is using the wrong ESRT GUID settings.
Manually updating the BIOS to a newer version updates the laptop with the correct ESRT GUID settings and resolves the Windows Update issue. Note: Before starting the update, perform the following: Back up all personal data. For more information, refer to: Back Up and RecoveryConnect the AC adapter. Updating the Alienware 16X Aurora AC16251 System BIOS to version 2.1.2 or later on the laptop resolves the issue.
