The following error appears when trying to select "View Session Log" (or using a double-click in the activity monitor) to retrieve a client log. (This error occurs when attempting to retrieve a log for VMware image backups.) Error: utf8 "XXXX" does not map to Unicode at /usr/local/avamar/bin/logs-to-html line XXX,<$fh> line XXX. Example: After selecting OK, the log appears as normal.
VMware image backups had been run for the virtual machine after virtual machine snapshot was created that contained non-ASCII characters in the snapshot name. The "Logs-To-HTML" tool cannot handle non-ASCII characters.
1. Click OK to continue retrieving the log file. 2. Delete the snapshot which contains non-ASCII characters in the name. 3. Create a new image backup for the Virtual Machine (VM). The error should no longer appear.
