Windows Hello may fail to log in to Windows using a fingerprint after the computer is idle for 24 hours and then reboots. Affected Platforms: Dell 14 DC14255Dell 16 DC16255Dell 16 DC16256Dell Pro 14 Essential PV14255
The operating system checks third-party files and marks them as safe. If this safety check expires after a long break, it might take extra time to recheck. This can cause a timeout and prevent login through Windows Hello by using a fingerprint.
Workaround Log in to Windows using a PIN or password instead of a fingerprint. Long-term solution Microsoft is working on a fix to be released in Windows 11 version 25H2 and later. The update may be downloaded through Windows Update once it is made available. Windows 11 version 25H2 is expected to be released in October 2025.
