Dell Unity: NFS share creation fails with error: The system could not find the specified path. Please use an existing path or create one with an external host. (Error Code:0x900a002) Unable to create an NFS share within the multiprotocol NAS server Unable to create a second NFS share with the same local path
Each NFS share must have a unique local path. Unisphere automatically assigns this path to the initial share created with in a new file system.NFS features:
Multiprotocol functionality in Unity: A multiprotocol NAS server supports multiprotocol file systems only. You cannot create an SMB-only or NFS-only file system on a multiprotocol NAS server.A file system can support multiprotocol, SMB-only, or NFS-only access. Multiprotocol file systems enable access from SMB and NFS to a single file system simultaneously. Troubleshooting Steps: Method 1: Enable the multiprotocol file sharing on an existing SMB-enabled NAS serverMethod 2: Create a new NAS server with multiprotocol enabled and create a file system with SMB and NFS Method 1: Enable the multiprotocol file sharing on an existing SMB-enabled NAS server Confirm whether the Multiprotocol is enabled for the NAS server. In this scenario, the user created the NAS server with SMB shares only. The user requirement is to create an NFS share. Confirm whether the NAS server is Multiprotocol enabled or not. From Unisphere click Storage > File > NAS server > Sharing Protocols > Multiprotocol The NAS server is SMB only enabled. If the user wants to create an NFS share, there are two different options: Enabling multiprotocol file sharing on an existing SMB-enabled NAS server removes existing mappings and removes access for any user that is not correctly mapped through the mapping sources. Clients with incorrect mappings receive an Access denied message until the mapping configuration is correct. From the above Protocol screen, click Show Advanced and fill the required fields. Method 2: Create a new NAS server with multiprotocol enabled and create a file system with SMB and NFS shares. From Unisphere click Storage > File > NAS server > Click the + icon to create a new NAS server. Configure multiprotocol functionality by creating a NAS server and enabling multiprotocol, and then creating a file system for the NAS server. Later, create both NFS and SMB shares on that file system.Create a new NFS share with an existing local path receives an error as seen below: List the NFS share: Create an NFS Share: Select the file system: Enter the NFS share name and local path: An error is received when creating an NFS Share with the same local path: Create an NFS share with a different local path to resolve the issue: Successfully able to create an NFS share: List the newly created NFS share: Using Uemcli commands: Create a multiprotocol NAS server: Create the NAS server: uemcli -d 10.0.0.X -u admin -p MyPassword /net/nas/server create -name FS1 -sp spa -pool pool_0 -mpSharingEnabled yes -unixDirectoryService ldap -defaultUnixUser fred2 -defaultWindowsUser "fred2" View the NAS server details: uemcli -d 10.0.0.X -u admin -p MyPassword /net/nas/server show -detail Create an NFS share: Create the NFS share: uemcli -d 10.0.0.X -u admin -p Password /stor/prov/fs/nfs create -name test2 -fs res_26 -path "/mypath" View the NFS share: uemcli -u admin -p Password /stor/prov/fs/nfs show -detail See the Dell Unity Family Unisphere Command-Line Interface User Guide for reference.
