In rare cases, a Dell PowerEdge XR11 may stop during POST after a vAC cycle is issued.A user may experience either or both of the following events during POST, in the System event log (SEL), and in the LifeCycle Log (LCC Log): HWC8010: The System Configuration Check operation resulted in the following issue: Comm Error: Backplane 0 HWC8010: The System Configuration Check operation resulted in the following issue: Comm Error: Sig Pwr Cable 0 NOTE: vAC Cycles can be performed by users or may be run as part of updates such as Complex Programmable Logic Device (CPLD) firmware. CPLD updates are programmed to issue a vAC cycle to a server. The events are experienced after the vAC cycle.
Power rail holding power during virtual AC cycle prevents complete inventory during POST.
Dell Engineering recommends the following workarounds: Remove power from the server and reapply power to clear the error condition. Or A system reset from a Linux client may clear the error condition using the curl command. Example: curl -ksu "username:password" -X POST https://idrac_ip_address/redfish/v1/Chassis/System.Embedded.1/Actions/Chassis.Reset -H "Content-Type:application/json" -d '{"ResetType" : "PowerCycle"}' In this example, two things must be replaced: Replace "username:password" with your iDRAC username and password. Replace "idrac_ip_address" with your iDRAC IP address. Or If curl is not available, Redfish Application Programming Interface (API) Utilities such as Postman or Talend API tester can be leveraged for POST commands. For more information, Reset Action is found in the iDRAC9 Redfish API documentation: https://developer.dell.com/apis NOTE: It is possible that HWC8010 can be encountered while updating CPLD firmware to v1.1.3. Prior CPLD code is active during the update. The new v1.1.3 CPLD code is not enabled until after the final reboot of the system.Resolution:Dell engineering has addressed this issue in an upcoming release planned for April 2024.
