Precision Towers randomly stop responding or do not detect the hard drive while resuming from sleep The following intermittent issue may occur on a Dell Precision 5860, 7865, 7875, or 7960 Tower Fixed Workstation: The desktop intermittently does not detect the hard drive when it resumes from S3 sleep.The desktop intermittently stops responding when it resumes from S3 sleep with an on-screen STOP error. Note: It does not matter if RAID ON is selected in the BIOS for this issue. The problem is only seen if a hard drive password has been set for the hard drive. This is due to a hardware problem with the hard drive. The startup spin time is too long for the motor in the Enterprise hard drive. It exhibits the enterprise software group (ESG) unlock fail symptom. Data is not synching completely from the buffer.
Note: Administrator rights are required on the device to make any operating system changes or update any software. Restarting your Tower allows the device to boot up into the operating system. Update the BIOS to resolve this issue: (Choose your product from the following list.)
