This is a rare issue and is mostly seen with Dell OS 10 switches when being used as a TOR switch in PowerFlex Rack and Appliance deployments and Network Automation is set to Full, not partial. There is a configuration check block that will not allow firmware updates when any of the server-facing switch interfaces are not configured with a 9216 MTU.
During the deployment of some resource groups that involve Dell OS10 Switches (1 out of 3 deployments approximately), Switch Ethernet interfaces (server facing) MTU of value!= 9216 were discovered and stored as incompatible interfaces into the Deployment object.Later during the deployment steps, PowerFlex Manager Platform (PFMP) correctly configures MTU=9216 on these interfaces but because of a flaw in logic to check for incompatible interfaces the deployment object does not get updated to mark the interfaces as good. This is blocking the firmware updates. Note: This does not happen with Cisco Nexus TOR switches and also only happens with some deployments using Dell OS10 TOR switches.
There are two ways to resolve this issue. Restart the asm manager pod. Refer below commands. Login into any of the PFMP node and search for the asm manager pod pfmc-node1:~ # kubectl get pods -A | grep asmmanager powerflex asmmanager-799dbc6857-28878 1/1 Running 1 (3d21h ago) 3d21h then restart the pod by deleting it. pfmc-node1:~ # kubectl delete -n powerflex pod asmmanager-799dbc6857-28878 pod "asmmanager-799dbc6857-28878" deleted If restarting the asm manager pod does not help, follow these steps to remove the service and re-add back: Remove service using the switch, do not delete.Remove switch from resourcesDiscover switch using resourcesAdd existing resource group
