The following catalog errors may occur when running Dell System Update (DSU) 2.0.0 for ESXi: Reading the catalog ... Download Failed CatalogIndex.gz: not found Exiting DSU!
This is likely due to changes introduced in VMware ESXi 7 Update 3 to default enable the httpClient of nfsClient rulesets in the firewall which block outgoing ports 80 and 443 or 111 and 2049, respectively. Therefore DSU cannot download the necessary catalog or DUP files from either https://downloads.dell.com or optionally from a local HTTP or NFS share for that matter.
The httpClient or nfsClient rulesets must be disabled (ports opened) using the following syntax before running most DSU commands: esxcli network firewall ruleset set -e=false --ruleset-id=httpClient Or esxcli network firewall ruleset set -e=false --ruleset-id=nfsClient Dell Engineering will address this issue in a future DSU release.
