If Dell services your computer (A Dell technician replaces a motherboard, for example), after reinstalling all parts and connecting the AC adapter to the computer, the computer may take one to three minutes to complete memory initiation before any video appears on the screen. This occurs when the battery is disconnected from the motherboard. When reconnected, the DDR5 memory is redetected and this process may take up to three minutes. The larger the amount of DDR5 memory installed, the longer the initial restart process takes.
The startup delay is due to the DDR5 memory initiation process after the battery was reconnected during the computer repair.
There is no hardware fault with the computer. It is the expected behavior for DDR5 memory configurations. Once the BIOS completes interrogation of the installed DDR5 RAM, the computer completes POST and starts normally. This process occurs anytime that the battery is disconnected from the motherboard during service of the computer.
