9800 WLC in some cases sends location updates to the spaces connector (on prem) for a wifi client with correct UUIDs and in others with an empty UUID. The UUID refers to the openroaminng wifi client username in the following format : ‘UUID@.openroaming.net’. When this happens, one result states that the client is un-associated to the wifi with an empty location and ‘store name’. The other will return the correct location and ‘store name’. This led to two location updates refer to the same wifi client.
During testing for few instances where the UDID information was absent in certain updates sent by the 9800 WLC for Android devices. When this happens, one result states that the client is un-associated to the wifi with an empty location and ‘store name’. The other will return the correct location and ‘store name’. This led to the creation of two distinct location updates refer to the same wifi client.
The DNA Spaces team has added a backend logic that correlates wifi client entries when they are using the same mac address regardless of the presence of UUID. For this scenario the getlocationdetails call will now return the correct result.
