Symptom

Linecards on C9600X system can't boot from Golden region of IOFPGA when it's Upgrade/Primary region is corrupted. Instead it goes into continuous power-cycle loop, while below logs seen on Active SUP's console: *Aug 31 03:24:40.617: %IOSXE_OIR-6-INSSPA: SPA inserted in subslot 2/0 *Aug 31 03:24:40.512: %CMRP_PFU-6-PWR_MGMT_OK: R0/0: cmand: Sufficient number of power supplies (4) are installed for power redundancy mode Normal (excess power 6210 watts). *Aug 31 03:24:40.616: %CMRP_PFU-6-PWR_MGMT_OK: R0/0: cmand: Sufficient number of power supplies (4) are installed for power redundancy mode Normal (excess power 5790 watts). *Aug 31 03:24:45.163: %IOSXE_OIR-6-INSSPA: SPA inserted in subslot 2/0 *Aug 31 03:24:45.058: %CMRP_PFU-6-PWR_MGMT_OK: R0/0: cmand: Sufficient number of power supplies (4) are installed for power redundancy mode Normal (excess power 6210 watts). *Aug 31 03:24:45.162: %CMRP_PFU-6-PWR_MGMT_OK: R0/0: cmand: Sufficient number of power supplies (4) are installed for power redundancy mode Normal (excess power 5790 watts).

Conditions

Issue is seen when trying to bringup a linecard whose IOFPGA Upgrade/Primary firmware storage is corrupted.

Workaround

There is no workaround to avoid this failure

Further Problem Description

linecard IOFPGAs contain two regions to store firmware, allowing for redundancy in the event of an upgrade failure. Due to this defect, if an event has corrupted the primary region for firmware storage, the backup ("Golden") region will not boot successfully. Fixed versions for this defect will allow for successful fallback, and ultimately recovery of the primary region once the system is booted.
