PTP/SyncE not locking at all due to Timing PLL trap
The issue observed in some NCS55xx where PTP/SyncE do not lock to the remote router at all and remains in unsynchronized state. The issue is due to internal failure of on-board Timing PLL in the card.
As per the analysis from PLL vendor, the issue is attributed to random bit flips in memory caused by high energy solar system particles. The errored memory cells may be loaded as data, address field, or some compound failure into an instruction register, eventually leading to a processor trap.
The workaround is to HW reload the chassis admin# hw-module location all reload
