To fix the issue of CRC/Symbol errors presented on devices connected to C9600-LC-48TX on a C9600 switch, the following CLI knob was implemented: conf t int te1/0/1 speed 1000 high-ipg OR speed 100 high-ipg OR speed 10 high-ipg OR speed auto 1000 high-ipg OR speed auto 100 high-ipg OR speed auto 10 high-ipg However, when after applying the CLI knob, you may encounter unexpected behavior: 1. The output rate of the C9600 drops down and there are connectivity issues between C9600 and the device connected directly to the LC. 2. The C9600-LC-48TX interface will have an output rate, but the remote side does not receive a single packet from the C9600. Related to CSCvz67689
Catalyst 9600 switches with the C9600-LC-48TX that have utilized the IPG CLI knob may experience unexpected packet forwarding behavior. This issue can only occur if the IPG CLI knob is even configured on the interface.
For devices experiencing the CRC/Symbol Err connected to the C9600, the workaround is to use an intermediate device (such as 2960x) or use any speed other than 1G, like 100Mb or 10G, and at 100Mb 10G the IPG CLI knob will be not needed.
CLI knob was implemented to fix CRC/Symbol Err issue reported under CSCvw18201
