An access point fails to bring it radios up, and continuously logs messages similar to the following: Aug 19 00:10:45 brain: Restart POE negotiation Aug 19 00:10:46 brain: CDP PoE negotiation START Aug 19 00:11:46 brain: CDP PoE negotiation FAILED !! Aug 19 00:12:18 brain: Power mode: Degraded/Reduced Power, power_detection: DC_adapter(FALSE), 802.3AF_POE(FALSE) Aug 19 00:12:18 SYS-COND: SYS-COND: AP is in critical condition
Seen with 2800/3800 series APs connected to SG series Cisco switches. APs are on a PoE switchport, or on power injector, connected to a non-PoE port. CDP and/or LLDP are enabled.
Disable LLDP and CDP on the switch side, then reload the AP.
This is a regression that first appeared in 17.3.4 and 8.10.162.0. It does not affect 17.5.1 and is fixed in 17.6.1.
