Upon establishing a new console connection or a new Telnet/SSH session to the Cat9k High Availability setup [be it a Cat9300 stack using the back-side stacking technology or a Cat9500 Stackwise Virtual pair using the front-side stacking] the following log messages may be seen: Console session Cat9300_stack# [console-relay] Selected VTY line number 1 for console relay. [console-relay] Checking VTY access: addr(0xABCDEFAB) tableid(266) liin_tableid(266) [console-relay] Selected VTY line number 1 for console relay. Cat9k High Availability setup [be it a Cat9300 stack using the back-side stacking technology or a Cat9500 Stackwise Virtual pair using the front-side stacking] 17.02.01 or newer version switchover has occurred new console connection or new Telnet/SSH session
Execute the 'undebug all' command or the 'no debug platform software console-relay' command 17.01.01 and older version do not exhibit this phenomenon
This situation occurs because the standby switch has the console relay debug [debug platform software console-relay] enabled out-of-box [without explicitly being enabled by the user] Cat9300_stack#show debugging Packet Infra debugs: Ip Address Port ------------------------------------------------------|---------- Cat9300_stack# Cat9300_stack-stby#show debugging Console relay: platform software console-relay basic debugging is on Packet Infra debugs: Ip Address Port ------------------------------------------------------|---------- Cat9300_stack-stby# Upon switchover, the standby switch [with the debugs enabled] becomes the active switch and this debug will generate the log messages shown above
