While upgrading via ISSU from 16.9.4 to 16.9.5, during Stage 2, where the Standby is Reloaded, the Standby is not coming up in SSO and is being forced to reset. We get the below log and the Standby goes in a Boot Loop : Mar 24 00:08:12.443 CDT: %BOOT-3-EXT_ISSU_CHK_FAILED: R0/0: issu_comp_check: Detected booting up of standby RP with image beyond the ISSU domain of active RP by the issu_comp_check_sh process. The standby RP is forced to reset.
The WLC package file name in the current IOS (16.9.4) is "rp_wlc_optional". Whereas it should be "rp_wlc".
If this problem occurs, then the only way to upgrade would be via downtime, with either INSTALL or BUNDLE mode.
++ Before attempting to upgrade via ISSU, please verify the WLC package file name in the current IOS. This can be checked via "more bootflash:packages.conf" ++ If it is "rp_wlc_optional", then an ISSU at this point won't be successful, and the only way to upgrade would be via downtime, with either INSTALL or BUNDLE mode. ++ Also, this because of an issue in 16.6.1 & 16.6.2 from where if an upgrade to any release is done, the WLC package file name changes to "rp_wlc_optional". This has been fixed from 16.6.3 onwards.
