This bug only impact ASR1001-X, ASR1001-HX, ASR1002-HX routers. Router may crash after a couple hours after upgrading from 16.12.2 to 17.2.1. Issue will NOT be seen with 16.x releases. Issue will be seen with 17.2, 17.1. Please note that the issue is not with the upgrade path but with the image version 17.2 and 17.1.
Workaround is to do a cold restart seems to prevent the boot loop for some time, but it eventually goes to booting loop. There are two solutions: Solution-1:. Upgrade to below mentioned IOS versions or later. Please refer to CSCvv19063. 17.3.2 17.4.1 CSCvu57682 is not a complete fix and the complete fix is in CSCvv19063 Solution-2: Upgrading to rommon release 17.3.(1r). If rommon is upgraded, then IOS release doesn't matter
