Description

Symptom

L3VPN traffic forwarding stops after a backup link is going down. This could be and ECMP link in the forwarding path or a backup link for Fast Reroute (LFA). The problem is observed as soon the the backup topology changes after the link was going down.

Conditions

The problem can be observed after any link flap which triggers a change to the backup path.

Workaround

Recovery is a clear of the route to the affected prefix: clear route ipv4 unicast /32

Further Problem Description

Faulty packets are sent out on the affected system and dropped on the next hop. The packets don't have a valid MAC address src/dst pair and no valid label stack. The problem can be displayed with the CLI show cef hardware egress detail location 0/x/cpu0 The LWLDI block of the output does not display encapsulation information for the primary path.
