Interfaces remain up but the device is not sending/receiving traffic until device is reloaded. or Interfaces start flapping frequently: %IOSXE_SPA-6-UPDOWN: Interface TenGigabitEthernet0/0/0, link down due to remote fault %IOSXE_SPA-6-UPDOWN: Interface TenGigabitEthernet0/0/0, link down due to local fault %IOSXE_SPA-6-UPDOWN: Interface TenGigabitEthernet0/0/1, link down due to remote fault %IOSXE_SPA-6-UPDOWN: Interface TenGigabitEthernet0/0/1, link down due to local fault In some scenarios the problem can be observed again some time after the reload. The time period before the issue reoccurs gets reduced after each reload. The management interface GigabitEthernet0 is not affected by this issue. If running recent software (see the "Further Problem Description" section below, the unit logs the following messages: %CMRP-3-WANPLL_SETUP: R0/0: cmand: Failed to setup the Clocking chip of the RP WAN PLL because MCLK APLL is not locked to the ref clock signal. mcfail_sticky_status (PLL2LSR(addr:0x39:bit:7)) is SET. Crashing the system!! Please do not attempt to re-establish the PLL clock. %PMAN-3-PROCFAIL: R0/0: pman: The process cmand has failed (rc 134) %CMRP-3-WANPLL_SETUP: R0/0: cmand: Failed to setup the Clocking chip of the RP WAN PLL because MCLK APLL is not locked to the ref clock signal. mcfail_sticky_status (PLL2LSR(addr:0x39:bit:7)) is SET. Crashing the system!! Please do not attempt to re-establish the PLL clock. %PMAN-3-PROCHOLDDOWN: R0/0: pman: The process cmand has been helddown (rc 134) %PMAN-0-PROCFAILCRIT: R0/0: pvp: A critical process cmand has failed (rc 134) %PMAN-3-RELOAD_SYSTEM: R0/0: pvp: Reloading: System will be reloaded
The issue might be observed on C9800-40, C9800-80, ASR1001-X, ASR-1001-HX, ASR1002-X, ASR1002-HX, ASR1000 with RP3.
RMA the device.
Additional logic was implemented in below IOS-XE versions in order to detect the problem. ASR1001-X ========== - 16.9.7 and newer - 16.12.5 and newer - 17.3.2 and newer - 17.4.1 and newer Other ASR1k /C9800 platforms =================== - 17.3.3 and newer - 17.4.2 and newer - 17.5.1 and newer In the failure scenario the below error message is displayed on the console: %CMRP-3-WANPLL_SETUP: R0/0: cmand: Failed to setup the Clocking chip of the RP WAN PLL because MCLK APLL is not locked to the ref clock signal. mcfail_sticky_status (PLL2LSR(addr:0xxx:bit:x)) is SET. Crashing the system!! Please do not attempt to re-establish the PLL clock.
