Nexus 9000 with the role of PIM DR for the VLAN is found forwarding the Multicast traffic down to this VLAN (to IGMP receiver) by S,G entry in the Mroute table (Shortest Path) when acting as Last Hop Router in non-vPC topology even with "ip pim spt-threshold infinity" in the configuration.
- PIM Multicast is enabled. - Nexus 9000 is acting as Last Hop Router (IGMP receiver is on a VLAN). - Nexus is non in vPC configuration. - "ip pim spt-threshold infinity" is configured to attempt to avoid switching over to the Shortest Path Tree (SPT). - Nexus 9000 transits from Non-DR to DR role while Multicast traffic is ongoing. - Nexus 9000 is seen with S,G forwarding this Multicast traffic.
Execute command 'clear ip mroute G S' for the Mroute entry.
PIM non-DR creates S,G with empty OIL in non-vPC topology when receiving the Multicast traffic from DR. Upgrade to NX-OS version 9.2(3) or later where this behavior has been corrected.
