SLI Serdes initialization failure is seen for the line card while booting up the switch or when we do line card OIR. When this issue is observed, some ports will fail POST test. When this error is seen and POST fails, IOMD for that specific slot does not function properly and may lead to complete non-function of any line card in that given slot, including interfaces not coming up etc. Subsequently you won't see POST running at all for any card OIRd in that given slot and interface state machine running because we don't receive SERDES sync done message in IOMD. Example- %CMRP-3-SERDES_NSTEP_SYNC_ERROR: R0/0: cmand: Link down in Slot=2, Link-Type=4, Link-Status=0x1, Link=37 few other related messages that can be noted from IOMD traces of that respective slot POE: M3 I2C GlitchLegolas read retry exhausted iomd] [13094]: UUID: 0, ra: 0, TID: 0 (ERR): MDIO access failed
This issue can be observed while booting up the sup or when a software/hardware OIR is executed for the line card.
Power cycle the switch.
During module initialization sometimes Serdes between SUP and LC module fails and because of this, ports which are sharing this Serdes SLI will go into error-disable state due to POST failures.
