Symptom

The message *** Uplink FRU module hardware authentication failed. *** is seen and the module fails to come online

Conditions

C9300 with 8x10G C9300-NM-8X uplink modules manufactured with an alternate security processor device

Workaround

A software fix is incorporated into 16.9.1, 16.6.4 and later. If a software upgrade is not feasible, the module should be RMA'd.
