An error is observed when performing the NX-OS Compact Image procedure via SCP on an NX-OS binary image file over an in-band interface (such as through an SVI or a routed front-panel port): switch# copy scp://username@192.0.2.100/nxos.7.0.3.I7.8.bin bootflash: compact Enter vrf (If no input, current vrf 'default' is considered): ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host Scp Compact of /bootflash/nxos.7.0.3.I7.8.bin failed Error doing scp Copy failed. Removing file nxos.7.0.3.I7.8.bin This issue may be observed when using any VRF (including the default VRF) other than the management VRF to run the NX-OS Compact Image procedure via SCP.
1. Issue is observed on Nexus 3000 Series switches and Nexus 9000 Series switches 2. Attempting to perform the NX-OS Compact Image Procedure via SCP over any interface other than the mgmt0 interface.
Use the mgmt0 interface within the management VRF to run the NX-OS Compact Image procedure via SCP.
Support for running the NX-OS Compact Image procedure via SCP over in-band interfaces (within the default VRF or otherwise) is introduced in NX-OS software release 7.0(3)I7(2).
