Usually seen when upgrading from 7.1(1)N1(1) where there is a bug CSCut86026 due to which /var/tmp is full.
Do not proceed with upgrades or reload on such systems which has BIOS corrupted. Contact Cisco TAC to manually update the BIOS.
Running version of BIOS is corrupt. This can usually happen when system directory /var/tmp is full and install command is issued to a version which has newer BIOS. The install commands aborts with following error.
But on subsequent install commands goes through and the system does not boot up due to corrupt BIOS
