In rare cases, the system is unable to repair a soft error in network processor (NP) memory which should be recoverable. Here is an example of the messages that are seen on the system console: LC/0/2/CPU0:Aug 2 00:13:08.181 EDT: prm_server_ty[302]: prm_ser_check: Unable to repair Parity error on NP 5, block 0x2a (TM_SC_L234), offset 49, memid 453, name CLASS_SHAPING/CLASS_IQD_SHAPING, addr 0x00000109, bit 2147483648, ext info 0xffffffff 0xffffffff 0xffffffff 0xffffffff, action 0 (Fix) LC/0/2/CPU0:Aug 2 00:13:08.194 EDT: pfm_node_lc[290]: %PLATFORM-NP-0-NON_RECOVERABLE_SOFT_ERROR : Set|prm_server_ty[172112]|Network Processor Unit(0x1008005)| A non-recoverable soft error has been detected on NP5. The linecard will be rebooted.
This problem is specific to offsets 49 and 50 in TM memory IDs (memid's) 225, 301, 377, and 453. These fields are displayed in the error message, the error was reported in offset 49 in memory ID 453 in the above example.
There is no workaround required. The linecard will automatically be rebooted which will allow the system to recover from the memory error.
