On a Check Point Security Gateway, SecureXL does not accelerate traffic that is sent to specific external IP addresses. You may observe one or more of the following symptoms: SecureXL Drop or PXL Handover - Traffic to certain external IP addresses bypasses CoreXL acceleration and is processed by the firewall kernel (Passive Streaming Library PXL). High CPU Utilization - CPU usage increases because the Security Gateway processes these connections without SecureXL acceleration. Increased Packet Processing Latency - Connections to affected external IP addresses experience higher latency.
SecureXL is designed not to accelerate traffic that uses a local broadcast IP address. This behavior is expected. Under specific subnet conditions, SecureXL may incorrectly classify some standard external IP addresses as local broadcast addresses. When this occurs, SecureXL treats the traffic as non-accelerable and forwards it to the firewall kernel instead of using CoreXL acceleration.
