Symptoms
Virtual Machine Guest OS will observe a kernel panic after power on VM and then choose "Try or Install Ubuntu"
[ ] Initramfs unpacking failed: write error[ ] Failed to execute /init (error -2)[ ] Kernel panic - not syncing: No working init found.
Purpose
Ubuntu version:22.04.2 will fail to install in VM when running on ESXi 6.7.x and ESXi 7.0.x.
Cause
This issue is caused due to insufficient memory resource allocation.
Resolution
Currently there is no resolution.
Workaround
Follow the below mentioned steps:
Shutdown the VM.
Edit VM settings to increase memory resource to 2GB or more.
Power on the VM and start the installation again.
