Symptoms
End-user experiences poor performance (i.e. choppy video playback, poor mouse interactivity), when connecting to a Horizon desktop pool with HEVC or H.264 enabled.End-user’s client system uses Windows 10 or 11 and has AMD graphics with recently updated drivers.
Purpose
This article provides troubleshooting steps and a workaround for poor performance when using H.264 or HEVC on a Horizon Windows Client system with AMD graphics.
Cause
VMware has identified a performance regression in AMD Adrenalin drivers, starting in version 22.10.2.
Resolution
This has been fixed with the latest AMD Adrenalin driver update 23.2.2.
