Symptoms
Apple devices may fail to process an application (app) install command issued from Workspace ONE UEM. This may affect applications deployed as VPP (Volume Purchase Program) and Public applications through the Workspace ONE UEM console.
VPP app deployments may fail with: “Error Code : 12064 Could not retrieve license for the app with iTunes Store ID.”
Public app deployments may fail with: “Error Code : 5002 An unknown error has occurred.”
Note: All iOS versions are affected.
Purpose
This article describes a resolution and workaround to known install issues with VPP and Public application installs on iOS devices within Workspace ONE.
Resolution
Current Status:On May 21st, 2021, Apple announced a server-side change that has resolved this issue. VPP and Public applications should no longer display the errors noted above during installation and we have not received any new reports regarding this issue. If VPP and Public app installations continue to fail, please reach out to Workspace ONE Support by submitting a Support request or chatting through the My Workspace ONE portal.
Workaround
For Public deployments
Workaround:
Make sure to enable Make App MDM Managed if User Installed in deployment restrictions.Users must download the application from the App Store (and Workspace ONE UEM will assume management).
Note: The time taken by Workspace ONE UEM to assume management may vary.
