Symptoms
In the vmmsi.log you see messages similar to:
MSI (s) (F4!D4) [07:49:25:571]: Product: VMware Horizon 7 Connection Server -- Error 28018. There was an error creating a Microsoft Directory Services instance. 'AD LDS Setup was cancelled.'. For further information, please check the Microsoft ADAM setup log (adamsetup.log) in the Windows Debug folder.
adamInstUtil:
Failed to open registry key SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ADAM_Installer_Results.
Cause
This issue occurs due to incorrect "ADAM_Installer_Results" value.The incorrect values for "ADAM_Installer_Results" can occur due to a bad/failed previous installation.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, revert to the working snapshot prior to upgrade.Before upgrading, check if the registry key is already present in the working snapshot.SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ADAM_Installer_Results.If the keys are already present, delete it and then proceed with the upgrade.Note: This KB is applicable only in cases when the above-mentioned registry key exists before the upgrade.
