When logging into the Web Client you are prompted to download the client integration plug-in even though it is already installedNo error messages are observedRe-installing the plug-in does not resolve the issueWhen you access Web Client using the latest version of Firefox, which has most recent version of the Client Integration Plugin, the following warning is displayed: "The VMware Client Integration Plugin has updated its SSL certification in Firefox. Please restart Firefox."
The issue occurs due to a problem with the SSL certificate trust for the integration plug-in or corrupt Firefox data.
This is a known issue affecting the vSphere Web Client 5.5 and 6.0.To resolve this issue: Uninstall Firefox, restart the machine, and install an Extended Support version of Firefox (For example: Version 52.0) and the Client Integration Plugin.If the issue occurs after you reinstall Firefox and the Client Integration Plugin, edit Firefox options to import the vmware-localhost certificate: Launch the Options window in Firefox and in the Advanced tab, select Certificates.On the Certificates tab, click View Certificates, and on the Authorities tab, click Import.Navigate to C:\ProgramData\VMware\CIP\csd\ssl and select the cert.pem file.Select Trust this CA to identify websites and verify that vmware-localhost is listed in the Authorities tab. Create a new user profile. For more information on creating a new user profile, see the Creating a profile section in the Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles Guide. Note: The preceding link was correct as of July 17, 2017. If you find the link is broken, provide feedback and a VMware employee will update the link. If the issue occurs after a new user profile is created, use Microsoft Internet Explorer or Google Chrome to connect to the vSphere Web Client. You may get an error like below. cip error: Please start the vmware cip message proxy serviceIf so, on the computer you installed the CIP (Client Integration Plugin) , open Services (services.msc) and start the service "VMware Cip Message Proxy Service"
