Description:
SP B Battery 0 has faulted (Part Number 078-000-094-00, Serial Number Axxxxxxxxxxxxx).
Cause
If the Unity array is running Unity OE 5.0.4 or greater, this event indicates a battery backup unit (BBU) in your Storage Processor has faulted and needs replacement. If the Unity array is running Unity OE 4.3.x through 5.0.3.x there is the potential that this alert could be a false positive, and the battery is not faulted, although it is showing a fault on the Unisphere interface. The polling mechanism used to determine the BBU status on these code versions has the potential to produce a false positive alert for a BBU fault.
Resolution
FixIf the Unity array is running Unity OE 5.0.4 or greater, order a replacement BBU and have the faulted BBU replaced. If the Unity array is running Unity OE 4.3.x through 5.0.3.x and assistance is required to verify if the BBU is faulted and needs to be replaced, or if this alert is a false positive (in which case it can be cleared), contact Dell Technical Support or your Authorized Service Provider and quote this Dell Knowledge Base article number.
