Symptoms
When attempting to protect an existing Storage Group (SG) with SRDF Metro via Unisphere for VMAX, the operation fails with the error "The remote connection attempt for the dynamic RDF group operation has timed out"Error msg:

Cause
Software error. The masking bit for port was overwritten. For example, 1E will contain ports 7,11,27,31 this will cause the bytes responsible for ports 27 and 31 to overwrite each other.
Resolution
This Issue has been addressed in Unisphere for VMAX version 8.4.0 and later.
