Symptoms
Data Domain (DD) CLI is in limited session.User cannot log in to the DDSM. CLI commands reporting *** Error connecting to management service at "localhost"System Management Services (SMS) appears to core dump and is not running.

Cause
Evaluation Elicense has expired.
SMS.log

Resolution
Perform the below steps:
Get a new permanent or evaluation license file.
Replace it with the file in /ddr/etc/licenses/license.lic
# mv /ddr/etc/licenses/license.lic /ddr/etc/licenses/license.lic_orig.
# touch /ddr/etc/licenses/license.lic
# vi /ddr/etc/licenses/license.lic and paste the new license and save it.
Restart SMS.
# se sms restart
View update elicense.
# elicense show
From /ddr/etc/license/license.lic
INCREMENT DD_REPLICATION EMCLM 1 permanent uncounted \
VENDOR_STRING=ENV=INT-PERM; HOSTID=ANY ISSUER=EMC \
ISSUED=29-Nov-2012 NOTICE="ACTIVATED TO SiteID: 12345678" \

Note: It says "permanent uncounted\for permanent license.
