Symptoms
A message is returned when sending a test email to the SMTP Server using the AppSync UI:
The mail service was unable to send mail to:abc@def.com because the following error occurred while submitting the request to the SMTP server. com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPSendFailedException: 451 5.7.3 STARTTLS is required to send mail.
Cause
The SMTP Server was configured for passwordless authentication.
Resolution
A hotfix for AppSync 4.6.0.1 exists to address this issue. Call Dell Technical Support quoting this article to obtain the hotfix.See the release notes after version 4.6.0.1 to determine if the fix is included.
