Symptoms
During a VxRail deployment, the Validate configuration fails with an error "The number of disks or disk layout do not match the primary node."VxRail host discovery or validation failed with the below error:
"The number of disks or disk layout do not match the primary node"
Cause
This could be due to one or more hard drives missing from the IDRAC Inventory.https://IDRACIP -->Storage-->PhysicalDisk
Resolution
Follow the below steps to resolve this issue:
Perform an IDRAC soft reboot and check if the missing hard drive is visible on the IDRAC inventory. See KB https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000126703 . If yes, rerun the validation otherwise follow the next steps.Perform a remote auxiliary power drain of the node through the iDRAC. See KB https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000020620 and check if the missing hard drive is visible on the IDRAC inventory. If yes, rerun the validation otherwise follow the next steps.Perform a hard reset and power drain of the affected node. See KB https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000175625 as this needs to be done from onsite
