Symptom: On 4.2(2a) firmware, you may encounter "Local disk X is degraded" faults. This may happen every 7 days. These faults may occur on drives configured as a Global Hot Spare/Unconfigured Good.
Conditions: 4.2(2a) FirmwareDrives configured as Global Hot Spare/Unconfigured Good drives.Drive Self Test feature is enabled.Code is known to be used in the following: vxblock 1000 RCM 6.7.15.0 > RCM 6.7.15.1 RCM 7.0.9.0 > RCM 7.0.11.2 No match in RCM 8.x
Workaround: There is one workaround that contains two parts. Step one clears the CIMC fault, and step two prevents the issue from re-occurring.1. Manually run the "Drive Self Test" via the CLI to clear the fault in the CIMC:- SSH to the CIMC IP- scope chassis- scope storageadapter- scope physical-drive- start-diag2. Disable the "Drive Self Test" feature via the CLI. The commands are as follows: - SSH to the CIMC IP - CIMC # scope diag-config - CIMC /diag-config # scope drive-diag-config - CIMC/diag-config/drive-diag-config # show - You can use this to show that the "Background DST Enabled" is set to true, thus enabled - CIMC/diag-config/drive-diag-config # set bg_diag_enabled false - CIMC/diag-config/drive-diag-config # commit - CIMC/diag-config/drive-diag-config # show - You can use this to show that the "Background DST Enabled" is set to false, thus disabled Resetting the CIMC may set the "Drive Self Test" feature back to "True". Please validate the status of the "Drive Self Test" feature after any CIMC Resets and adjust as necessary.
