A static image or its outline will stay on the screen even after its gone. Examples are: News Banners, Icons, or Video Game User Interface Items
If a static image is displayed on the screen of Alienware OLED Gaming monitors for an extended period without changing the video, using a screensaver, or turning the monitor off, Image Retention (Burn In) can occur. Note: When the Image Retention occurs, it is permanent since an OLED panel contains organic material that cannot be recovered once its properties are changed.
To reduce temporary Image Retention on the screen, manually activate the Pixel Refresh function after using the monitor for a couple of hours. Alternatively, the function is activated automatically when the monitor is used for at least four hours. The process takes approximately 6 to 8 minutes to complete. Open the monitors On-Screen Display (OSD) -> Others -> OLED Panel Maintenance -> Pixel Refresh To prevent permanent Image Retention caused by static content when you use the monitor for at least 1,500 hours, manually activate the Panel Refresh function to refresh the pixels. Alternatively, the function is activated automatically when the accumulated usage time exceeds the factory default setting (1,500 hours). The process takes approximately an hour to complete. Open the OSD -> Others -> OLED Panel Maintenance -> Panel Refresh For more information about using and troubleshooting Dell monitors, see these Dell Knowledge Base articles: Alienware 34 Curved OLED Monitor AW3423DW Usage and Troubleshooting GuideAlienware AW3423DW/DWF Pixel Refresh Will Turn Monitor OffAlienware AW3423DWF Monitor Usage and Troubleshooting GuideLatest Firmware for the Alienware AW3423DW Gaming Monitor
